Hethersett Hawks Presentation Night 2023
HETHERSETT HAWKS / YELLOW BRICK MORTGAGES staged their end of season Presentation Evening at the new Hethersett Hub on the Memorial Playing Field. Over 75 members, families and friends attended to celebrate another successful and busy season – seven Norfolk champions, one South East Grand Prix champion and a national champion – Nyla El-Labany at Under-8 Girls. In total 47 members took part in competitions and another 21 just attended training sessions during the season.
A total of 24 awards were announced on the evening with many of the trophies being sponsored by Fedex. Those receiving awards were –

At the end of the evening a special presentation was made to Jenny Melvin who is stepping down as Club Secretary after five extremely busy, challenging and successful years. She will be a tough act to follow with the role likely to be split between several volunteers.
At the same time one of the Club members – former British and European Champion Andre Cross – was making a competitive comeback 12,000 miles away in Adelaide at the World Championships.
After coming through qualifying heats and a semi-final for the World Grand Veterans (Over-50s) he was struck down by illness which caused much concern to his colleagues. He was able to take his place in the Final but could only manage three of his five rides and the nine points scored earned him joint 10th place.
Andre also qualified as a reserve for the Veterans (Over-40s) Final and was selected to represent Gt.Britain at that age category but had to withdraw. Hopefully a speedy recovery will take place and we hope to see him in action for the Hawks in 2024.
