The season is underway!

It was a sunny weekend of racing for Hethersett hawks sponsored by YELLOWBRICK MORTGAGES as they went to Great Blakenham on Saturday for Round 1 of the BYJL/SEGP and then to Kesgrave on Sunday for the first Div 2 and Youth matches of the season.

The youngsters rode well with Levi the only representative in the U8’s.  He looked confident and held a great line making it to the B final.  In the U10’s Nyla came 3rd in the A final and Isaac 1st in the B final.

Jake coped well with battling an extra lap on a bigger track as he made the step up to the U12’s and Arlo looked in good shape trying to find lines through some of the Suffolk riders.

In the U14’s Tyler had a quick introduction to the world of racing with his crank breaking and having to have a quick bike swap but recovered well and rode his way to the B final with Austin who took the win.  Luca put in a strong performance with two wins and two seconds in his heats and finished 4th in the A final.

As the Seniors stepped up father and daughter combo Dave and Lola rode well to finish 1st in the B final of the vets and 3rd in the A final of the girls.

On Sunday the Hawks made the seemingly endless journey down the A140 again to meet Kesgrave in the first Div 2 and youth matches of the season.  The Div 2 match finished with Kesgrave taking the win with 86.5 to Hethersett’s 72.5.  The Hawks family are wishing a speedy recovery to Harley who sustained an injury to his arm after an altercation with the fence.

The youth team had a tough draw against an experience Kesgrave youth side but youngsters Isaac and Nyla rode well to help the Hawk to 71 points to Kesgrave’s 89.
