Hawks latest news

HETHERSETT HAWKS / YELLOW BRICK MORTGAGES are having a difficult time in South-East Division 2 and travelled to Ipswich without any senior riders being available.  The enthusiastic youth team, including seven-year-old Nyla El-Labany, stepped up and received compliments from their hosts for their commitment.  Needless to say, against an Ipswich B side that, on-paper, looked at full strength, they found it tough and were. saved from a total whitewash by a 5-5 in heat 14 by Frank Spauls and Aiesha Musa.

Boosted by the inclusion of Will Clarke for the Youth League match, the Hawks were able to be much more competitive with Lola Martin, despite an injury received the previous day, and Aiesha Musa getting a 7-3 win in heat 9 and those two each getting another race win helping to keep the final deficit to just 10 points.

There were some good performances by Hethersett riders in Round 5 of the South-East Grand Prix series held at the picturesque Somersham track in Suffolk.  Nyla El-Labany finisged runner-up in the Under-8s while others to reach “A” Finals were Aiesha Musa and Amelia Dodson (3rd and 4th in the Girls) and Dave Martin (3rd in the Veterans).

Round 6 is at East London on 5th August.

Numbers were lower than usual for Round 6  of the Norfolk GO-RIDE and Grand Prix series at Hethersett due to holidays, school trips.  However it did allow for some others to get among the trophies with Norwich’s Zachery Eastwood outstanding in the U12s / U14s group to register his first win.  Three riders made their first showing in the series – Josh Morris, Harley Hamill and a racing debut for veteran John Syer on his birthday!!
