Norfolk Go-Ride Grand Prix R5 Eaton Park

HETHERSETT HAWKS / YELLOW BRICK MORTGAGES had 16 riders at Eaton Park for Round 5 of the Norfolk GO-RIDE and Grand Prix series.  Riders in this series have experienced a variety of track conditions in the previous four rounds from cold winds, rain and dust but nothing quite like round 5 – 31 degrees heat and a strong hot breeze blowing across the park.

Despite that racing was very competitive. especially in the Under 12/14 category with some leading riders absent.  Luca El-Labany got his first win in the series and that helped the Hawks win all six categories.  Lola Martin came from the back to take second place while Mason Martin pulled a great line to pass Harry Everiss in the Senior/Under-16 Final.

One of the biggest cheers from a decent crowd sheltering under the trees was reserved for Cerys Williams getting her first race win.

Meanwhile Glyn Morgan made the long trip to Exeter for the latest Eurovets Round which celebrated the Devon club’s 60th anniversary. He fell in one ride and had to work hard for a second place in his last ride to finish with 12 points – enough to make the Over-60s A Final.  He finished third in the final which still leaves him in second place in the series.

The next round in that competition is in Newport on Saturday 22nd July.

This weekend some Hawks will make the trip to Sheffield on Saturday for the first national round of the British Youth & Junior League while on Sunday it is back to Eaton Park for a South-East Division 2 match (2 p.m.)
