Norfolk Go-ride Grand Prix Round 1

HETHERSETT HAWKS / YELLOW BRICK MORTGAGES took 20 riders, including latest recruit Dakota Ridge, the short distance to Harford Park for the opening round of the Norfolk GO-RIDE and Grand Prix Series.  On a pleasant afternoon at an improved track a good crowd were entertained by 35 races and cheered the younger riders receiving medals and certificates.

The Hawks won five of the six categories in the guise of Nyla El-Labany, Oscar Copeland, Aiesha Musa and Mason Martin (two) – fresh from his exploits with the England training camp at Ipswich the previous day. There were many notable improved performances benefiting from the twice weekly training and coaching sessions.

The second round is at Hethersett on Wednesday 10th May (7 p.m.)

Glyn Morgan continued his defence of his Eurovets Series Over-60 title in Round 2 at East London. A mistake in one heat limited him to 14 points but enough to get into the A Final where he finished third and he now sits second in the series.  He also finished runner-up in the Over-50 B Final.  The next round is at East Park in Wolverhampton on 13th May.

The previous Sunday it was the girls turn to travel as Amelia Dodson and Lola Martin went to Wednesfield with the South East squad for the Women’s Battle of Britain Series opener.  Lola ended up guesting for the North  & Scotland team while Amelia had three rides for her own region before joining Lola to cover for a rider who became ill.  The girls then took part in the Intermediate Grand Prix with Lola continuing her good form by winning the B Final closely followed by Amelia.  The next round in this series is in the North on Sunday 14th May.
