Hawks AGM and looking forward to the new season!
HETHERSETT HAWKS / YELLOW BRICK MORTGAGES staged their Annual General Meeting at Hethersett Social Club with the focus on the season ahead and beyond over two hours of meaningful discussion.
In the formal business the minutes and accounts were approved with the generous sponsorship of Yellow Brick Mortgages duly acknowledged. The decision was made to move £2000 from general funds to the Track Development Project. A site meeting will take place shortly to shape the next stages of the project likely to include ground works for foundations and drainage before moving containers already acquired onto site to be fabricated. An update on the Wonky Wheels Community Bicycle Workshop project was also given.
The officers of the Club were re-elected – Chair / Treasurer – Mel Perkins MBE, Secretary – Jenny Melvin. The Vice-Chair role remains vacant.
The Committee positions were decided as follows –
Welfare Officer – Charlotte El-Labany
Minutes Secretary – Janet Perkins
Membership Secretary – Jo Silver
Fund-Raising Officer – Anna Clarke
Track Development Officer – Sacha El-Labany
Senior Membership Development Officer – Leigh Cossey
Youth Membership Development Officer – Nigel Longlands
There was much discussion on the revised plans for Tuesday night training which has seen changes to manage numbers and provide more focused training and coaching for members at the appropriate level. The Saturday training sessions have been extended to allow 12 riders at a time with some sessions exclusive to newcomers plus disabled and neoro-divergent children.
Another key focus in 2023 will be to encourage riders to compete in South-East and, for those who it is appropriate, national events, in particular the Little League day and the British Club Championships in Birmingham. It was acknowledged the cost-of-living crisis may impact this and the Club will help in this respect where it can.
Local competitions are also seen as vital to give members experience beyond training and these will be discussed at a forthcoming meeting of the Norfolk Clubs. A revival of a GO-RIDE series is being investigated.
So it is full-steam ahead to the new season – first match on April 1st but training starts March 4th and 7th.
